The New York post did an excellent article on how Obama’s followers act as if he is the savior. If this country was the Matrix; Obama would be Neo. This is very interesting considering the recent video I saw in which five woman in Obama’s presence actually faint. This whole situation to me seems pretty silly and the whole Obama campaign seems fairly overrated. Don’t get me wrong I do not dislike Obama in any way, and although I do not agree with some of his issues i.e. universal healthcare, I think he has a good head on his shoulders. All I am saying is that people are taking their political choice and turning it into their life choice. His followers have on many occasions called him the messiah. As the Ny Post article reports:
“Is Barack Obama the Messiah? Lots of people have pondered the possibility. There are web sites dedicated to the question; Google “Is Barack Obama the Messiah?” and you’ll get more than 35,ooo hits. (Enter just the words “messiah” and “Obama” and you will get nearly 10 times that.)”
Now I am in no way comparing Obama’s personal beliefs or his followers beliefs to the Nazis, but, Hitlers third reich had started the exact same way. The nazi followers believed Hitler to be their savior and would do whatever it took to assure his position as their leader.
Now in modern times, in a country as diverse as ours, it would be extremely rare to see followers of a belief become so caught up in an idea that they would hurt other fellow Americans because someone disagrees with them. Or would it?
I recently read an interesting article online about Obama followers becoming devoted to scanning the internet to be the first to comment on anything dealing with the 2008 election to praise Obama and use severe “smear” tactics on Obama’s opposition. HMMMM……… That sounds a little bit like PROPAGANDA to me. Maybe I’m overreacting, though. The article goes on to talk about how his followers have been sending death threats to any local media outlets who have criticized Obama in any way. Read the article

Now one might argue that these are his supporters and not Obama himself. The NY post has reported that Obama’s campaign volunteers are taught to avoid the issues and instead talk about “how they came to Obama”. Kinda sounds a little bit like brainwashing huh? The NY Post has quoted Obama saying ” A light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany, and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and VOTE FOR BARACK.” WOW, that is quite the statement to make. I guess since I do not plan on voting for Barack, I will never receive that connection with a higher power.

I think Obama definitely has star power that will result in votes. This is not new, though. Remember, George W. Bush defeat Al Gore (well, not technically) in large because of his charisma/demeanor.
However, I think the main reason Obama has people thinking he’s a savior is because citizens have just endured 7+ years of George W. Bush. Along comes a young, intelligent, articulate candidate (all which Bush is not) who is campaigning as the man to bring change in DC. Due to his lack of Washington-experience, and refusal to take money from lobbyists and PACs, Obama looks like the savior. The man that can actually bring together D.C. or at least have the best shot at doing so. The savior of the American political system.
As far as the Obama supporters making death threats/commenting first on forums: How many millions of supporters does he have? Have supporters of other campaigns done the same?
I say good for Obama! If he is sent from God maybe this time the Dems can pull the christian vote. And maybe the reason women are fainting for him is in response to comparing his looks to the looks of his opponent, seriously we don’t need another president with false teeth.
And notice how a lot of the fainting happened outside. Anytime there’s thousands of people out in the sun OR in a gymnasium, people will get dehydrated/faint.
