As a producer it is very possible (he’s underrated) because most people don’t even know Q-Tip produces. In addition to producing a variety of tracks off classic albums from Illmatic to The Infamous, Q-tip was just as important to ATCQ production as Ali Shaheed Muhammad. Although it is unconfirmed how much of the ATCQ albums he produced, I believe it was at least half or a collaborative effort on most tracks. Anyway, this leads me to the old school joint of the day….a Q-Tip produced song off The Infamous, which is truly a classic hip hop album. Too bad Mobb Deep fell off and sold out. – Ronnie Stern

Ronnie – I’m loving the Old School Joints you’re posting daily.
I don’t totally agree that Mobb Deep sold out, though. Yea – they signed with the Unit, but the Unit was considered just as grimy until they started making serious money. Can you blame Havoc and P for signing with G-Unit to improve their financial situation? Blood Money was a pretty good album, too.
Yea, i mean i guess it all depends on how you look at it. I can’t lie I used to love G-unit in the beginning, but then i started to dislike them a lot around the time tony yayo was coming out with his album and that was around the time Mobb Deep signed with them and since then i haven’t listened to their music. Its hard when you have your best album at the beginning of your career and its hard to maintain that level of success and still try and please the fans–new and old–like me being a fan of their old content. Also, Mobb Deep was never really an underground rap group and they have been popular for a while so i guess it is unfair to say they sold out in the first place, but i do believe they fell off a bit.
