When DMX Ruled The Hip Hop World…

DMX used to rule the hip hop world; Dark Man X is going through a difficult time right now due to ongoing legal issues, but instead of dwelling on the negative, Hiptics will celebrate his success. Back when physical albums were still a favorite among consumers, DMX sold more albums than everybody. Here comes the statistical breakdown:

DMX’s Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood hit stores a few days before Christmas in 1998. To date, the album has been scanned over 3.4 million times.

The Yonkers MC followed up Flesh Of My Flesh with It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot. DMX dropped this album less than five full months after Flesh Of My Flesh! To date, It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot has been scanned over 4.6 million times.

Seven months after the success of It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot, and almost exactly one year after the release of Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood, DMX dropped …And Then There Was X. To date, that DMX album has been scanned over 4.9 million times!.

Just to sum things up, DMX released three albums in one year. For DMX, one year of releases equaled roughly thirteen million in sales! Each album was more popular than the next, and DMX was on top of the hip hop world.

Men lie. Women lie. Numbers don’t. We get it. But how about videos? Do they lie? Sure, sometimes. But take a look at X rockin’ the stage at Woodstock 1999 to really get an idea of DMX’s popularity at the time.

Our Ultimate Plies Playlist is dedicated to the loyal Plies fans, but also intended for the hip hop heads who can’t stand the Fort [...]

T-Pain – Reverse Cowgirl (Music Video)

We’ve played T-Pain’s “Reverse Girl” at Hiptics.com sponsored parties and watched the reaction. Sorry Jay, but it’s a hit. A hilarious, ridiculously-themed hit. Notice the use of a comma in between reverse and cowgirl when T-Pain sings the refrain. It makes the sexually driven song radio friendly. Instead of reverse cowgirl, he’s just asking you [...]
