Wow! T.I. sold over 500,000 copies of Paper Trail the first week!
I’m from Florida so you know I’ve known about T.I. for a long time. I’ve enjoyed following his career and have no doubt that he’ll be back stronger than ever after serving his sentence. I’m glad he got a taste of his hardwork before heading to the human cages. You can read about T.I. heading to prison for a year in this article in USA Today.
T.I. may be staring at a year in prison, but he’s not letting that curb his swagger. The Atlanta rapper’s new album, Paper Trail, finds him chastened but unbowed after pleading guilty this spring to federal weapons charges.
Rather than use this opportunity to bemoan his fate, he owns up to his mistakes, takes haters to task and declares the ordeal will make him stronger. He does it with his usual lyrical flair, which already has helped him score three hit singles in the run-up to today’s release.
I was looking back on old posts about T.I. on Hiptics. The one post that really stood out was one I made when T.I.’s record-breaking single “Whatever You Like” was released. When I first heard this song I knew it was going to be a hit, and it made me that much more confident that T.I.’s legal woes would only fuel Tip to create a classic album. According to Paper Trail reviews, T.I. came close (what do you think?).
I watched T.I. have to serve time while his career was on the up-swing with a series of popular singles like “24s,” “Rubberband Man,” and “Let’s Get Away.” There was no guarantee he would be able to pick his career back up but he did. T.I. came home and released Urban Legend . Suddenly T.I.’s claiming himself to be “King of the South” didn’t seem so far fetched. Remember what the next album was called? King.
Keep your head up T.I. and keep doing positive things!
