Snoop gives Lebron Career Advice
Snoop dogg is now serving as a consultant to NBA players with over hundred million dollar contracts. Read all about it on Hiptics:
Snoop Dogg recently appeared on ESPN’s Around the Horn, where he discussed LeBron James’ upcoming free agency. His partner in crime, J.A. Adande, made some excellent points, and then Snoop pretty much went the opposite way.
Adande referenced the fact that LeBron could make more money in Cleveland, due to the Larry Bird Exception.
“Larry Bird Exception: The Larry Bird Exception allows a team to re-sign their own free agents to contracts up to six years, with annual raises of up to 12.5%. This exception is known as the Larry Bird Exception because the Boston Celtics were the first team permitted to exceed the salary cap to re-sign their own free agent. That free agent was Larry Bird.”
Immediately afterward, Snoop was asked his thoughts, and said that LeBron needed to go to New Jersey, where there’s a bigger market, and he could make more money.
I suppose they’re both right, on some level. There’s money to be made in either locale, it’s just a matter of where it’s coming from. LeBron is marketable enough on the national stage that I’m sure if he loses a few dollars by staying in Cleveland, he’s still manage to get by.
Either way, we need more of Snoop on ESPN. Forget his obvious biases towards fellow rappers (and LA/SoCal, if/when that comes up)… I’ll take Snoop over Paige or Mariotti any day.
