Wal Mart is everywhere
I support capitalism, but when times our tough in a capitalist society people get hungry. In this case it looks like the opportunity to save money on Black Friday caused a mob of thousands to bum-rush a Wal-Mart when it opened, resulting in the death of an employee. I wonder who will be charged? Regardless of the difficult economic times, nothing justifies such barbaric behavior. A video report by BBC is after the jump…
A shop worker has died during a sales rush at a Wal-Mart store.
Police said a throng of shoppers broke down the doors at the store in Valley Stream, Long Island shortly after 5am, knocking the 34-year-old worker to the ground.

how does people wanting to buy things from walmart have to do with capitalism?
This post is in no way an attack on capitalism. I was simply pointing out that the lack of a safety net in a capitalist system triggers events like this.
Europeans laugh at the possibility of such an event happening over here. I believe this is because their economic system has safety nets that makes it virtually impossible to ever be in such desperation. The kind of desperation that would make thousands of people like you and me trample a human being to death on a Friday morning.
I still prefer the opportunities that capitalism provides but it does have its down sides.
It’s the idiocy of the people not the economic system. These people were not desperate for food and clothing; they were desperate for more useless shit.
The event is absolutely sickening, but it also feels ‘oh so good’ not to be them.
