Lil Wayne, DJ Empire: The Drought Is Over 6 Review

Mad at DJ Empire?
Anyone hear it? I officially became a Wayne fan when I heard DJ Empire’s Pre-Carter III mixtape that dropped in the summer of 2007. Wayne murdered everything on it. Today I usually turn the station when Wayne comes on…
Imagine this. You help propel a rapper’s career by putting together a mixtape series of his best street material. Said rapper gets on the radio and says “F*** mixtape DJs” and specifically meant you. What do you do? If you are The Empire, you put out The Drought Is Over 6 against his own official mixtape and show him up.
Instead of just a shell of mixes like most DJs try, The Drought Is Over 6 gives “Carterettes” what they want with more Wayne (“Best Thing Yet “) and dope features (“Red Magic”). This one is just better than The Dedication 3.

Wayne is the same dude he was in 07′…and if u listenin to radio Wayne then u ain’t listenin to real Wayne ya dig?
^ Thanks for reading Hiptics. I didn’t realize that Wayne’s songs on the radio, like “Swagger Like Us” or “A Milli,” isn’t the ‘real’ Wayne. Fill me in, Tee.
ps. Wayne didn’t AutoTune his way thru mixtapes in 07
My bad I should of worded it different, radio Wayne is played out, I switch that shit 2…and u right about the auto tune, I meant lyrically he the same dude…that auto tune is fun to fuck around with and hear for lil, nut that aspect of waynes music is gettin annoying
I still think carter 2 is his best cd
I feel ya man…autotune is fun to play with (I have the program). Carter 2 is my favorite Wayne CD also.
