Business as usual
50 Cent is one of my favorite rappers to keep tabs on, mainly because of his business sense. Looks like Fif will continue to expand his business and public portfolio with a new line of dietary supplements. Since debuting in 2003 with an arguable classic (Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ ) 50 has quickly become one of the biggest hip-hop moguls…ever. Think about it; he’s competing with individuals who had a considerable head start in the game i.e. Diddy and Jay-Z. Just last night I watched Righteous Kill for the first time. Even though 50 doesn’t star in the entertaining film, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson the actor now has a film under his belt where he shares multiple scenes with Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro. What other Hollywood celebs can say that? -Cfro
“When [my career] blew up, I developed the Diddy syndrome,” 50 explained. “As soon as you develop the Diddy syndrome, you put a little more grease in your hair, and soon enough, you’re selling cologne.”
This year, the G Unit leader finally feels the market is ready for such a product. “Right now, I’m interested in dietary supplements,” 50 told the NY Daily News. “I’ll be coming up with something very soon.”Although the Queens native disclosed that the project is close to completion, 50 cryptically declined to elaborate on further details. “I can’t tell you what it would be called,” 50 stated. “I’d be blowing the big launch party!”
The rapper/mogul also admitted that after the phenomenal success of his debut Get Rich or Die Tryin’, he became more concerned with brand development than musical output.
