Rick Ross’ “Deeper Than Rap” – Predict Officer Ricky’s First Week Sales

    Rick Ross

Leave your predictions in the comment section! I’ll start things off: Rick Ross will move 20,000.

Update: I was way off. Deeper Than Rap roughly 150,000 but also had a multi-million dollar marketing budget behind him.

How many copies you think he’ll do the first week, Mr. Jones?

    3. Amor Jones says:

Cfro: How many copies you think he’ll do the first week, Mr. Jones?

I give him 100,000 just because of the fact that alot of people will probably buy his album just to see what he’ll have to say. Kinda like when 50 said that The Massacre would have a diss track on it & everyone bought it. I think it’ll have that effect on people hahaha.

    4. Mary Frances says:

I said 50,000 plus, only because I haven’t seen much promotion for this album.

    5. b-dog says:

i think 200k and i dont think 50 will get much more

    6. Cfro says:

^ Jim Jones couldn’t do 50k…how is rick ross going to do 200k? Especially as more and more people find out that he’s fraud.

    7. MRay says:

      30 to 70K. More around 38,000.

    8. Napstone says:

Reese Ross not going to sell more than 50000 on the first week. I think he will barely go gold like his first two albums!

    9. Cfro says:

      Cfro: 20,000
      Amor Jones: 100,000
      Mary Frances: 50,000
      B-dog: 200,000
      MRay: 38,000
      Napstone: 50,000

    10. Rio says:

first nigga ever to go negative platinum. nah.. that would be a notable achievement.. I’ll go with negative gold. -500K.

      rick RAWSE c.o. BOSS.

I’ll download it to check the production.. see it his ED and production team came correct. last record had some heat on it whether he a joke or not.

    11. mr floyd says:

his album is nutz 50 can’t beat his lyrics and in the streets he is connected but its just music. why can’t 50 go to his own hood but ross is welcomed with open arms. BOSS!!!!!!!

    12. ODS says:

lmao, officer ricky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, thats hits gonna flop!!!!! if jimmy cant sell 100,000 then ross is gonna be str8 doo-doo, im in miami, we dont respect no cop, we dont bump no cop in the systems in our trunks, and we definitely aint contributing no money to no fuckin pig ass cop!!!! holla if ya hear me, one

    13. Cfro says:

      ^ I hear ya!

    14. choconator says:

all i know is this….Def Jam LOVES to buy their own artist’s albums to help with promotion, but at the end, it hurts the artist still because they end up owing money to the label…officer rickyy, stick a fork in yourself, your done!

    15. Eagle says:

      less than 20k

      Officer RICKYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

    16. Renee says:

Rick Ross did sell in the first week and you all should have known that after the 50 vs Ross thing that he would sell. It wasn’t done for anything. With that said I don’t think the numbers will hold up unfortunately…. I think they will start to fade quick because you do have to add in the fact that Def Jam does buy some of their own product. Also, the hype is going to start to dwindle…

    17. It’s predicted Ross will do 160,000 first week despite the hate, leaks and lack of radio promotion.
      Just goes to show ….
u muthafuckaz dont know what the fuck your talkin about…lmao
And dont believe that bullshit rumour started over at thisis50.com thst Def Jam is buyin up records…
Ross has gotten the most praise of any album out in the last year or so

      People like good music
      Plain and simple

    18. EvilDoer says:

This faggot wont sell 25k the first week…. Nobody cares about him, and NOBODY is speaking about his cd in Miami lol nobody! Not on 1 radio station.

    19. ThaJackaL says:

This cd sucks I’ve got the bootleg, and it’s terrible! The first week sales mean nothing it’s the overall sales of the cd that matters because he said he would out sell 50cents “Get Rich or Die Trying” cd which even if Ross sells 160k first week which I think he could it won’t end up anywhere near 50 cents Get Rich or Die Tryin’ debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, selling 987,000 copies in the first week. The album spent a total of 18 weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200, 11 weeks on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and 8 weeks on the UK Albums Chart. It was among the best selling albums of the decade, selling 19 million copies by the end of the year. [3] [4] Overall a total of four tracks from the album charted on the Billboard Hot 100, one on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 and eight on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs charts. Four of each being the singles.

Let’s see what Officer Ricky does with his flop!
Oh, and I predict that 50cents next cd will sell 300k the first week which again would outsell Fat ass Ricky.

It’s clear 50cent is having a field day winning this shit.

    20. Jeremiah says:

Ive heard the album. Hardly even rap. more like RnB. Pretty lame 2/5. 160,000 in the first week is less than both of ross’ previous efforts and a joke compared to any of 50s albums. Its not selling because it is simply not a good album. My prediction: it wont even go gold. So invisibles, no its you who is clueless as to what your talking about. 160,000 ha. Im sure behind the scenes Def Jam and rick are disappointed by the numbers especially after boldly claiming his album would be an undisputed classic.

    21. THAT'S WHAT COUNT says:

Congraduations to Mr Rick Ross, JUSTIC LEAGUE, the inkredibles, and all of the producers and artist who came together to give us great music with the Deeper than Rap Album release. The truth is that the world wants to hear good music and thats what you have done.
Regardless of what your past may be, CO OR CRACK HEAD, at the end of the game, the album is solid and thats the only thing that counts.
Continue to bring the good quality of music and the great productions!!!

    22. Solja 4 Life says:

The ablum is good and the book he is putting out (Dj Envy interview) 15 Laws of the Street is SERIOUS!

    23. THAT'S WHAT COUNT says:

      SOLD OUT

    24. trapboy says:

records are not selling, everyone downloadin unpaid just puttin on their ipod n stuff, deeper than rap is a classic album!

    25. Rick Ross Fan says:

Yall are idiots in this forum! Ross outsold 50 easy and will continue to do so! The only reason 50 is even still rappin is cause he funds his own shit! He couldnt put out a hott record if he was paid to do it so you kno this album will be garbage! What happened to him leavin da game when Kanye wrecked his ass wit Graduation? 50 is a lame, a fraud, and a nobody in da rap game. He cant see T.I, Lil Wayne, Kanye, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy or Drake! Leave da game alone and retire 50! Do us all a favor!

    26. Cfro says:

^ First of all, welcome to Hiptics.

Second, 50 Cent and Kanye West were supposed to diss eachother to create hype surrounding their September 11th release dates. Kanye didn’t follow through as planned, and refused to say anything negative about 50. 50 said some outrageous stuff to command attention, which he did successfully as evident by your mention of him saying he’d leave the game.

50 is not a fraud. Dude used to get it in, even his enemies (Bang Em Smurf) will admit this.

Meanwhile, the man you claim to be a fan of spent over a year LYING about his past life as a correction officer. The biggest “boss” can’t even control the mother of his son, who is releasing a book via G-Unit Books and doing numerous radio/online tv appearances.

      Just saying…

    27. Rick Ross Fan says:

Thanks for the welcome, its very appreciated and glad to see someone can debate without gettin pissed.

Kanye will never battle anybody, it’s just not his style. While 50 did command attention, it obviously helped Kanye more than it helped him. I’m starting to believe that 50 can’t put out a record without beef to hype it up. Get Rich or Die Trying was classic even if the beef with Ja Rule never happened. Massacre didn’t need piggy bank to sell well because everyone was so hype off the first record. To pick a beef with 3 people who said nothing to you in the way of beef is just suspect to me. Then trying to go at Lil Wayne, which 50 would have surely regretted, did nothing for him so he stepped on to Rick Ross. I don’t understand why he can’t just release an album without all the beef and see how it sells. I guarantee it will not do well.

Fraud may have been the wrong word, i’ll admit to that but something about this dude is just fake to me. The constant beef, the constant shit talking, the constant blogging and starting shit. I like rappers that get it on their own and not on the back of every other rapper in the game.

Rick Ross may have been a CO i have no idea if that is true or not but i can say that he is a way better rapper than 50 will ever be. At the end of the day, this is about music and what will sell, not what a man did in his past.

If you want to talk about the past, I still don’t know how someone can get shot 9 times and not shot a single shot back. BTW i never saw the 50 movie so if that explained it, sorry just not a 50 fan.

    28. Rick Ross Fan says:

Also, i didn’t speak on the mother of Ross’ child. If a man controls what a woman is allowed to go out and say publicly, then he ain’t a man. I say let her tell her story as every American has a right to and defend ya self when the book flops.

    29. Cfro says:

The thing with Kanye/50 was the Roc-A-Fella and G-Unit had a joint marketing plan to hype the releases that involved both dudes dissing each other. Remember that Rolling Stone cover where they were face to face like 2 boxers? That was supposed to be the tone, but Kanye never came through on his end of the deal. None the less, Kanye had a bigger hit with “Stronger” and Graduation was a better album. I did like “I Get Money” though. It fit perfectly, esp. since 50 had just earned 100 million plus via Vitamin Water.

50 is a hustler at the end of the day. He applied the things he learned in the street to the rap game. As far as Piggy Bank goes, I didn’t understand it at first, but now I do. The beef with Ja Rule was VERY personal. Check out this post about 50 getting shot. I added a video of both 50 and Ja talking about their beef prior to 50 getting shot at close range.
      http://www.hiptics.com/2009/03/30/video-50-centja-rule-discuss-beef-prior-to-50-cent-getting-shot-must-see/

That’s why 50 went at Fat Joe and Jadakiss on “Piggybank”. In 50’s eyes, anyone who associated with Ja Rule i.e. helped him make money in the music industry is an enemy. After all, it’s Ja Rule’s business associate that supposedly hated 50 enough to pay to remove him from the earth.

About shooting back, how do you shoot back when someone is right next to you and pulling the trigger of a loaded gun. Think how long it would take to grab your gun, cock it, and then fire. If I recall, one of the bullets hit 50 in the hand cause the guy saw him trying to grab for his gun.

I appreciate your response. I enjoy debates like this.

    30. Rick Ross Fan says:

“I Get Money” was a good track and i do understand the joint venture thing also i appreciate the clarification.

This is my problem….T.I. had beef wit Lil Flip and didnt attack everyone in Houston…..It doesn’t make sense to me that you attack everyone who has ever done a track or helped the artist you are beefing against. Have you all ever wondered why G-Unit main base has not expanded? I think he burns so many bridges mann a track wit 50 and DJ Khaled would do good out here i think. But because you went at Fat Joe for no damn reason you stuck doing mixtapes wit Whoo Kid’s weak ass. Also, what business associate of Ja Rule’s tried to knock off 50?

And i am a testiment to how you can. I got shot 5 times in a gang fight back in 2002. Yall can believe it or not, but the first thing in my mind was to get away and to protect myself. I had a pistol on my hip that i managed to get to after i got shot 4 times! I busted back and took one more shot but the point is i know plenty of niggas that took fire and returned fire. And getting shot is no reason you can’t get to that pistol.

I appreciate your time mann, i really didn’t think anyone would even respond lol.

    31. Cfro says:

Sorry to hear that you got hit up like that. I think the reason 50 couldn’t buck back is because he was in a car. He was stuck. In a parked car, anyone is an easy target.

Supreme, the legendary drug dealer from Queens, was apparently behind the hit on 50. Supreme had affiliations with Murder INC.

Good point about G-Unit’s main base not expanding, though. You said a track with Khaled would do good “out here.” Where exactly are you writing from?

      Peace

    32. Rick Ross Fan says:

I’m in Oklahoma right now stationed at Tinker Air Force Base but im originally from Miami, FL. I’m in love with DJ Khaled and da movement he has going down in the South. He has so many artist that all have love for each other and are making good music. That hurts G-Unit because everybody collab’s with Khaled.

Now I don’t want you thinking im from da South and that’s da reason for liking Ross/hating 50. My favorite artists ever are Jay-Z and Notorius B.I.G. so it’s not a coast bias what so ever. But i hate it here in Oklahoma mann it ain’t shit out here!!!
