Vibe magazine put together a breakdown of Cam’ron rap career. This segment in particular, I think, is a great portrayl of Purple Haze, my favorite Cam’ron album.
Already a cult classic‚ Cam is so far ahead of the curve here, he cleverly lampoons the hyper-ventilating white wannabe thugs—in the form of “Mizzle”—before they claimed him as their hero. This is Cam at the height of his dizzying powers, playing with language, tossing around double entendres. On “Down and Out‚” he throws a flurry of punchlines—“You a stewardess? Good ma‚ I fly‚ too”—and single-handedly raises the stakes on rap in 2004. Ultimately‚ this is an album better heard than described. It would be his last for The Roc.
Killa!

A great letter of apology produced by Mr. Roth. I thought it was worth posting.
As of late, statements I’ve made have been stirring up much controversy and speculation. It is in my best interest that I feel I should address these instances personally and specifically. Truth: I am 23 year old imperfect human being who’s world is drastically changing around him. Facebook is no longer for just me and my friends. Twitter is no longer solely for the watchful eye of my parents. A new responsibility and voice has been placed upon me and is being heard well beyond my immediate peers. I’ve been receiving a crash course on perspectives and a very real sensitivity that exists and is an essential part of our world. With that, I’d like to sincerely apologize for any words that have been misinterpreted and may have offended any man, woman or child.

I’m really excited to hear Wale’s new material. Will from WDUB had this to say:
April 29th has come and gone, and unfortunately Wale announced on his website that he has delayed the release of Back To The Feature all the way to May 7th. This is just the first in a long line of delays on hip-hop releases. Before I Self Destruct, Rebirth, and now Back To The Feature. What’s the deal rap gods? Why have you forsaken your fans??!!!
All I know is “Chillin” is going to be huge this summer.
I saw this picture on the White House’s Flickr and it really grabbed my attention. I never knew the White House had a putting green. I included another photo that I thought was pretty cool.

“Supa Dupa” is a track off Big Sean’s new mixtape, UKnowBigSean Vol. 2. Andrew P told me I should post this track. I remember hearing it a while back on Sean’s MySpace, so it might not be new for some of you.

Big Sean is signed to Kanye's label.

I was contemplating checking out Jeezy’s show at Little 500, but my friend Jesse C. told me to steer clear:
I saw jeezy perform at a club I used to work at and he was god awful. He was absolutely fucked up when he came out and put on a horrible show.
I didn’t end up going, partially because of Jesse’s advice. What other rappers suck live? I’ve seen quite a few hip hop shows, but the majority of them were good.
Looks like Shady/Aftermath is going all out with this project. Click here to hear “3 AM” if you haven’t already.
This is getting crazy. When it first made the news I was making jokes about swine flu, but I don’t see the humor anymore. It’s too real to be funny.
The World Health Organization on Wednesday raised its pandemic alert to 5, its second-highest level, warning of widespread human infection from the swine flu outbreak that originated in Mexico.
Dr. Margaret Chan, the U.N. agency’s director-general, said the decision to raise the alert on the 6-point scale indicated that all countries should “immediately” activate pandemic preparedness plans.

Arlen Spector, long-time Republican Senator from Pennsylvania, recently decided it would be a good political move to become a Democrat. According to Chris over at The Washington Post:
Because of the shrinking Republican vote in the state, Specter was seen as a dead man walking politically in the primary with polling showing him trailing Toomey by ten or more points. The bar for Specter to run as an independent was also extremely high due to the rules governing such a third party candidacy.
That left a Democratic candidacy as Specter’s best option if he wanted to remain in the Senate beyond 2010.
Well today Specter cast his first vote as a Dem, and voted against the Obama budget. What a clown.
It didn’t take long for Sen. Arlen Specter to let his new colleagues in the Democratic Party know that his vote won’t be taken for granted.
A day after abandoning the Republican Party for the Democrats, saying the latter better represented his political philosophy, Specter voted against President Obama’s budget — which he and other Democrats have described as a manifestation of the party’s political philosophy.

I wasn’t sure if this would really happen, but it did. Props to Rick Ross for debuting #1, though. He did some real solid numbers.

No I.D. says he worked on the album with Kanye kind of how Mel Man worked with Dre on 2001 production. No I.D.’s comments about Jay-Z’s upcoming Blueprint 3 make me wonder. Props to Jasiri.
