Slim Thug is The Boss of all Independent Bosses
Slim Thug went independent when he dropped Boss of All Bosses this last week, and his first week sales says it all: the streets love Slim Thug. Slim managed to get within striking distance of Jim Jone’s first week numbers. Jones had a considerably larger budget via Sony Records, but only outsold Thugga’s independent effort by about 10k. On top of that, I hear Boss of All Bosses is quality material (word to TheIllest36).
Here’s the press release via E1 Music:
New York, NY – The Boss of All Bosses is back! Houston juggernaut Slim Thug’s new album, Boss of All Bosses on E1 Music/Boss Hogg (formerly KOCH Records), debuts at #1 on the Billboard Independent Chart. The album also came in at #15 on the Billboard Top 200 and was the #1 album in Houston.
Boss of All Bosses was released last Tuesday, March 24th, 2009.
Boss of All Bosses is Slim’s first proper solo album since his departure from Star Trak. The new album contains that same Texas fire that fans have come to expect from Slim. His first single, “I Run” peaked at #26 on the urban charts and has been a staple on the B.E.T. 106 & Park Countdown and MTV2’s Sucka Free Countdown since it hit airwaves.
Slim Thug made his official major label debut on the Neptunes’ Star Trak via Geffen with the 2005 release of Already Platinum (considered by many to be one of the best Rap albums of 2005). The album went Gold and sold over 150,000 copies its first week. Spawning the hits “I Ain’t Heard Of That” and “Like A Boss,” Slim Thug also kept his feet firmly entrenched in the ‘hood by releasing a series of incendiary mix tapes on his own.
Slim Thug began his official relationship with E1 Music with the release of the 2 underground Boss Hogg Outlawz projects (Serve & Collect and Back By Blockular Demand (Serve & Collect 2) released in 2007 and 2008 respectively).

[...] Slim Thug’s “Thug” is featured on Slim’s latest release, “Boss of all Bosses.” I’m not exactly sure why Thugga is releasing a new music video from “Boss of all Bosses” in September, but I’m not complaining. Slim can do what he wants. After all, he’s the boss of all independent bosses. [...]
