Slim Thug “Boss of All Bosses” Album Review

Here’s my breakdown of Slim Thug’s new album The Boss of All Bosses.
1. Boss of All Bosses
This goes hard.
2. I’m Back
Slim reflects on his career over a head-nodder. The hook is real cool. It sounds like Devon The Dude but no one is credited with the feature.
3. I Run
Great choice for the first single. The hood love Thug.
4. Show Me Love
Mannie Fresh produced this one and raps the chorus. The beat has a UGK feel. Mannie Fresh on the chorus ruins it for me.
5. Smile
Good choice for a second single. I like it.
6. Top Drop
I love Texas hip hop. Listen to this song while you’re driving on a sunny day with the windows rolled down.
7. Thug
Slim Thug has one of the most powerful voices in the rap game. No matter what he’s saying, it sounds serious. Needless to say, Slim sounds on point on this haunting instrumental.
8. Leanin (ft. UGK)
I love UGK, but this track doesn’t really stand out.
9. My Bitch
I like the beat, but the song is pretty terrible. Didn’t Biggie make “Me and My Bitch” back in 1994?
10. Associate (incorrectly labeled as “She Like That”)
I usually like tracks with Z-Ro on the hook. “She Like That” is no exception. I’m a little confused that the next track is titled “Associates” since Z-Ro’s sings “Ain’t no such thing, only associates.” Hmm.
11. Hard (incorrectly labeled as “Associate”)
This beat is funky. Again, I love Texas hip hop. Scarface raps on the first verse. Slim on the second, and someone I don’t recognize on the third. Cool song.
12. She Like That (incorrectly labeled as “Hard”)
Don’t like this.
13. Welcome 2 Houston
Illness. I really like when Chamillionaire does hooks. Chamilitary, mane!

I should mention that my “original breakdowns” are based on my first thoughts as I listen to each song.
