Rick Ross to Debut Number One With Big First Week Sales
This makes me really sad that William Roberts is on pace to top Jadakiss’ first week numbers. I applaud success, but what are hip hop fans thinking when they spend money on a work of fiction like Deeper Than Rap?These kids were bumpin’ Ross’ song “I Need That” the other day on campus and I starting shouting, “Rick Ross was a cop!” They didn’t seem to care. I hear the argument all the time; Good music is good music. However, hip hop is about authenticity. I don’t care that Ross was a C.O., but atleast be honest about it.
Carol City, Florida rapper Rick Ross’ third album Deeper Than Rap, will top the Billboard Top 200 Album chart next week.
Despite leaks, bootleggers and a major feud with 50 Cent, Deeper Than Rap is on pace to move over 150,000 copies during its first week in stores.According to Billboard, Asher Roth’s Asleep in the Bread Aisle will land at #2, with over 70,000 copies sold.

The New York Times just wrote a piece that exemplifies my point about Ross being a ficticious human being:
Asked how he’d explain to his children the more insidious of the ex-girlfriend videos 50 Cent has disseminated, Mr. Ross was philosophical: “I’d say she was an actress for a day. I love actresses.” In other words, an acknowledgment that sometimes it’s acceptable to just be playing a role.
