Question: Is Lupe Fiasco one of, if not the, best rappers in the hip hop game?
With the anticipation for Dr. Dre’s “Detox” and Eminem’s “Relapse 2”, what could be one of the greatest album’s ever created is being over shadowed. This single (video above) off of Lupe’s supposed album “L.A.S.E.R.S.” will show you exactly what I mean. The song is out of control and because of a leak in the studio the song spilled onto the internet in June and forced Lupe to release the single early to iTunes in early July.
“Shining Down”, after the success of Lupe’s first two album’s “Food & Liquor” and “The Cool”, gives a strong argument for Lupe Fiasco to be the greatest rapper out right now. Make sure to listen to his thoughts about Auto-Tune, where he says, “now if we autotune that shit /we can hear the songs from that opera grown fat b*tch /tellin us not to pursue it just to shoo it like a blacksmith/ we trapped and movin round in circles like it’s chapstick.” If I had to choose between the way Jay-Z addressed Auto-Tune vs. the way Lupe puts these four bars into a song as good as “Shining Down”, then Lupe takes it hands down…
