Lil Wayne – “Run This Town (Remix)” MP3 Download (“No Ceilings” Mixtape Material)

    October 31st, 2009

    Lil Wayne No Ceilings

MP3 DOWNLOAD: Lil Wayne – “Run This Town”

Lil Wayne devours the instrumental to Jay-Z’s “Run This Town.” If you haven’t downloaded Lil Wayne’s latest mixtape, “No Ceilings,” then you’re missing out on punchline-heavy rhymes from a less-syrupy sounding Weezy.

I pop like Lolli’s, you drop like eyelids
The money keep calling, I hear this shit dialin’
    [...]
The pistol mean business, that bitch should have a tie on

Beanie Sigel – “Average Cat” MP3 Download (Beanie Sigel Disses Jay-Z)

    October 29th, 2009

    Beanie Sigel & Jay-Z

MP3 DOWNLOAD: Beanie Sigel – “Average Cat” (Jay-Z Diss)

Beanie Sigel uses “Average Cat” to vent his frustration about Jay-Z’s business practices. DJ Kay Slay, aka The Drama King, gets the exclusive on this radio rip of Beanie Sigel’s Jay-Z diss. Remember, beefs/battles are strictly lyrical. Hiptics would never promote a battle that we believed would eventually turn violent. However, we’re 100% pro lyrical sparring. Aggressive competition, anyone?

So what is Beanie Sigel venting about?

50 Cent’s “Before I Self Destruct” Leaks Online – Can 50 Cent Still Have Big First Week Sales?

    October 29th, 2009

50 Cent Before I Self Destruct Cover

Amazon.com: Best Deals on 50 Cent’s Before I Self Destruct Album

Although 50 Cent’s highly-anticipated Before I Self Destruct leaked three weeks before the November 17th release date, 50 Cent should still expect to do big first week numbers. For the record, Hiptics predicts Before I Self Destruct will sell over 500,000 physical copies within it’s first week in stores. Here’s why:

Reason #1 – Quality Product: Whether it’s the universally-appealing single “Baby By Me feat. Ne-Yo” or the hardcore 50 Cent rhymes that the rappers core fan base craves, Before I Self Destruct features content that will motivate 50 Cent fans of all different backgrounds to support the product. Maybe 50 Cent will even tap into a new generation of young teens that were previously unaware of his music?

Reason #2 – More Bang For Your Buck: Before I Self Destruct will come with not one, but two original DVDs. The first, a 50 Cent-directed film inspired by the music , looks epic based on the preview. The second will be a documentary focusing on the man that first gave 50 Cent a chance at career in music, the late Jam Master Jay.

    50 Cent Performing

Reason #3 – Grassroots Gangsta: With two mixtape releases this summer, which included the classic War Angel LP , 50 Cent began a grassroots effort to re-engage his core audience. For example, 50 Cent hosted an event for the children of Southside Jamaica, Queens called Family Day .

Reason #4 – Internet Takeover: 50 Cent hardly needs promotion via Hiptics. After all, he has his own Ning Community that also happens to be the #1 most visited hip hop news/multimedia website on the Internet.

    Alexa Traffic Ranking (10/29/09):
    ThisIs50.com – 3,242
    AllHipHop.com – 3,328
    NahRight.com – 9,165

    Reason #5 – Interscope Grind:
Interscope Records, the parent company of Shady/Aftermath, appears on-the-ball this go-around. 50 Cent’s last album, Curtis, suffered from unexpected music video leaks and other promotional failures that undoubtedly affected the impact of the project. With Before I Self Destruct, the chess pieces appear to be lined up. Will 50 Cent be able to knock Jay-Z from the King of NY thrown? We’ll find out soon enough.

50 Cent ft. Eminem – “Psycho” MP3 Download

    October 29th, 2009

    50 Cent & Eminem

MP3 DOWNLOAD: 50 Cent ft. Eminem – “Psycho”

Over a signature Dr. Dre instrumental that makes use of eery strings, sharp claps, and even a heart monitor, 50 Cent and Eminem show-off their inner-psychos. 50 Cent wastes know time on the first verse, as he delivers an agressive rap with a sped-up cadence. Eminem holds down the second verse of “Psycho” with rhymes that leave horrific images in the head of any listener. As expected, his flow is nothing short of attention grabbing. The third verse features the two mega-stars going back and forth, and dissing some random, industry folks. Why does Eminem continue to mention Christopher Reeves in his rhymes? I guess he’s a “permanent fixture in [Eminem's] lyrical fixture,” but he’s also been dead for 5 years (R.I.P.).

    They say I’m a psycho, a sicko, I’m crazy
I see I got my knife boy, I’ll kill you, you make me
They wanna see me shot up, locked up, they cage me
I come back bigger, stronger, and angrier

Theopilus London Performing At CMJ – Front Row Footage

    October 29th, 2009

    Theophilus London

During CMJ last week, Brooklyn artist Theopilus London performed at Le Poisson before Clipse hit the stage. When I inquired about ‘who is this dude?’, the guy next to me looked as if he wasn’t sure if I was serious or kidding. London’s music-style isn’t what Hiptics typically pays attention to, but the goofy stage show and memorized crowd alone earns him a post. -Hiptics Editor

Theophilus London is like a grown-up version of The Cool Kids, a less vulgar version of Spank Rock or maybe what Drake would sound like after taking acid continuously for five years. So, he’s about as unique as a self-aware Brooklyn artist can be these days. This doesn’t mean my adoration for London is mashup lust, which always is easy to fall into. He’s dope and hip, but he’s not dope because he’s hip. It’s not completely pointless to argue his musical relevance in relation to his counterculture fixation, but I don’t feel like doing it. What it comes down to for me is: London might seem crazy for rapping nonsense over techno beats and wearing lots of leather, but in 2009 I think that only makes you fresher. [The State News]

BET’s Hip Hop Awards biggest hit was the three-part cypher series featuring rappers like Eminem, Wale, Nicki Minaj, Black Thought of The Roots, Mos Def, Joe Budden, KRS-One, and others. While the net has been buzzing about Eminem’s performance (see for yourself), Joe Budden also verbally-annihilated DJ Premier’s instrumental during the pre-taped segment of the pre-taped BET Hip Hop Awards.
