Thanks to everyone who’s been sending feedback on Hiptics.com’s Top 10 Hip Hop Mixtapes of 2009 post. As mentioned in that post, there was so much great mixtape material that came out in 2009 that it’s almost impossible to comprise a Top 10 list. We still did, though. However, we want to shine light on some of the other “best” mixtapes of last year. This list is in no order, but rather just a guide to some more great hip hop music. Hope y’all enjoy!

Pill – 4180: The Prescription [download here]
The ATL native is a breath of fresh air to the rap game. P-I-double-L ended up earning a major deal as a result of The Prescription. Download 4180: The Prescription and find out what the hype is all about.

Wale – Back To The Feature [download here]
Wale teams up with 9th Wonder for the ultimate collaboration mixtape. Every track features Wale rapping with a different rapper(s), and the roster of talent Wale was able to get for the tape is really impressive. Check it out!

Lupe Fiasco – Enemy of the State: A Love Story [download here]
Confused why Lupe’s latest mixtape didn’t make the original Top 10 post? You’re not alone. Take a look what Henry Robb, a Hiptics.com contributing writer from Philadelphia, had to say:

No Enemy of the State? I’d put that mixtape up against [Lil Wayne's] No Ceilings any day of the week, Franco. Lupe’s lyrical skills have literally left this world and entered an all new [atmosphere].

Wiz Khalifa – Burn After Rolling [download here]
Flight School is the personal favorite, but Burn After Rolling really got Wiz Khalifa’s name out there (380,000+ downloads and counting). Burn After Rolling features jams like “The Thrill,” “When U Find,” and “B.A.R.” Oh yea, the cover is bananas.

Big Sean – UKnowBigSean Vol. 2 [download here]
Kanye West’s favorite freestyler is a serious talent. The Detroit MC puts it all on display with UKnowBigSean Vol 2, which features over twenty tracks and a co-sign from Pharrell. Getcha some!

Donnis – Diary Of An ATL Brave [download here]
Donnis is a fresh voice from Atlanta that somehow ended up getting J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League to contribute original instrumentals to his project. The sound is hit or miss, but when Donnis is on, he’s very promising.

50 Cent – Forever King [download here]
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson came back in less than a month after releasing War Angel LP with Forever King. The tape features a mix of material that embodies the hunger of War Angel LP with R&B remixes. Take a look at the music video 50 Cent crafted for one of Forever King’s best songs to get a better idea of what we’re talking about: Watch “Funny How Time Flies”

Freddie Gibbs – The Labels Tryin To Kill Me [download here]
The Gary, Indiana native releases 80 tracks from his anthology to get new Freddie Gibbs fan up to speeds on how much of a beast he is. Has anyone ever done this? Don’t think so. Gibbs is the truth:

Bobby Creekwater – The Day It All Made Sense [download here]
Bobby Creek teams up with producer The Invisible to craft an impressive mixtape. Make sure you pay attention to “Business Man” and “Miss Atlanta.” Those are our joints!  Stat Quo comes through for a Shady Records reunion of sorts on “Spotlight.” Look out for B.C. in 2010!
