“I don’t want to do no records with [Rick Ross]. That goes against everything I think is great about the music, about the artform. I think we should write different things because culturally we’re different. You’ve got people from all walks of life involved in hip hop, and enjoying it. It’s grown to the point where it’s not even hip hop culture; it’s pop culture. It’s everywhere. I’d like to hear things that are actually their experience because then they can offer something that I can’t. When I write the agressive material, [the fans] go, ‘oh, I’m feeling that,’ because they know I come from that…”
