    Slaughterhouse – “Sound Off” [DOWNLOAD]

    August 17th, 2009

Here’s what I said about Sound Off in the song-by-song review of Slaughterhouse’s self-titled album:

I like the introduction; it’s epic but grimy at the same time. The way the beat drops in mid-way through for each verse is dope, especially as the MCs go into a double-time flow. Royce kicks this one off, followed by Joell, Crooked, and Budden.

Slaughterhouse Self-Titled Album Review x Song By Song Breakdown

    August 15th, 2009

The news of a Slaughterhouse album was a dream come true for hardcore hip hop fans. I listened to the Slaughterhouse album from front-to-back, and as usual, wrote my thoughts about each song the first time I listened. I’ve included some snippets from other reviews of the Slaughterhouse album at the end of my song-by-song thoughts so you can get an even better idea about how Slaughterhouse’s debut album sounds. I agree with Pop Matters about Royce; he shines the brightest.

    01. Sound Off – I like the introduction; it’s epic but grimy at the same time. The way the beat drops in mid-way through for each verse is dope, especially as the MCs go into a double-time flow. Royce kicks this one off, followed by Joell, Crooked, and Budden.

    02. Lyrical Murderers – Violins, deep piano keys, and hard claps make up this instrumental. Crooked kicks this one off. I like Kay Young’s chorus.

“I’m riding with my daughter in the front with the AK in the baby seat” -Royce Da 5′9”

“A beast so at your wake I cry lions tears” -Joe Budden

    03. Microphone – Someone needs to take Eminem’s UK freestyle over Alchemist’s beat and add it to “Microphone.” I wonder if Shady knew if ALC’s instrumental would be used on the self-titled Slaughterhouse album?

Royce, Budden, Ortiz, & Crooked Showcase Their Skills On “Slaughterhouse” Album [REVIEW]

    August 12th, 2009

Update: Read Hiptics.com’s Official Song-By-Song Album Review

I’ll be adding my personal thoughts of the album later today. First, I need to give the Slaughterhouse CD a listen from front to back.

All the controversy and hype aside, what’s most important is that these four rappers were able to put out a very listenable and enjoyable record. And to the surprise of many, there is nary a weak beat on Slaughterhouse. There may be some that almost flounder toward average territory, but they are solid as a whole. The same goes for the output of the rappers. All of them have their moments in the spotlight, though some might notice that Royce nearly steals the show. But what is most impressive is these guys were able to put their respective egos aside to create an album you should hear at least once. [PopMatters]

Chamillionaire & Slaughterhouse Member Crooked I Rap “Solo” On Mixtape Messiah 7 [DOWNLOAD]

    August 7th, 2009

    chamillionaire

    Stream | Download → ”Solo”

Chamilionaire’s  ”Solo featuring Crooked I” is one of my favorite tracks from Chamillionaire’s new release, Mixtape Messiah 7. Over the original “Creepin’ (Solo)” instrumental, Cham re-works the chorus with the help of Slaughterhouse member Crooked I. As expected, Crooked murders the beat.

    Slaughterhouse – “Microphone” [DOWNLOAD]

    August 3rd, 2009

Slaughterhouse (Royce Da 5′9 x Crooked I x Joe Budden x Joell Ortiz) murder this Alchemist instrumental. Joe Budden spits that Jay-Z diss that I filmed at Rock The Bells.

“I’ll have your clothes look liking they were designed by bullet holes and shoe prints” -Royce Da 5′9

Eminem freestyled over this beat during his appearance on Tim Westwood’s radio show in the UK. I wonder if Eminem knew the beat would be used on the Slaughterhouse album?

Here’s the download link for Slaughterhouse’s “Microphone.”

    Slaughterhouse – Cuckoo [DOWNLOAD]

    July 20th, 2009

    “Cuckoo”

Enjoy the latest offering from Slaughterhouse. Have you read Hiptics exclusive Royce Da 5′9 interview?

Hiptics.com: Got one more question here from a reader. What are your favorite hip hop groups of all time?

Royce Da 5′9: Tribe Called Quest, Wu Tang Clan, NWA, I could go on forever.  All of the groups basically. Everybody that contributed something, man. We’re talking about guys that made classic material so I look up to all those guys.

Here’s some good news about the Slaughterhouse/Wu-Tang Clan situation via MTV.

Between the end of Wu’s set and the beginning of Slaughterhouse’s, Method Man and Joe Budden were seen walking together in the parking lot. The two took their time quashing the beef.

When Slaughterhouse, which also includes Royce da 5′9″, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I, took the stage, they publicly announced the end of the short-term feud.

“It will never be a beef with Wu-Tang clan,” Royce said. He then revealed the convo between Meth and Budden, saying the situation was “squashed.”

SLAUGHTERHOUSE Super Group: Joe Budden, Joel Ortiz, Royce da 5′9, and Crooked I

    November 3rd, 2008

This is a dream come true for me. Budden, Royce, Crooked, and Ortiz all got big breaks at some point in their careers but were never able to hit what I call “brand name” status. However, a lot of folks really feel these guys like their the Jigga’s, Nas’, Eminem’s, and Weezy’s of hip-hop. Check out the first Slaughterhouse track below called “Onslaught.”
