A new visual courtesy of Hot Spitta and Creative Control. The “Prioritize (Beeper Bill)” music video was directed by Jonah Schwartz. For more Curren$y, check out his most recent mixtape.

A lot of times I see the question “well what Curren$y tapes should I check for?” To be honest, I don’t think I could suggest just one. I find myself naming all the mixtapes Spitta had dropped month after month. So I decided to put together a mix of all the songs I feel showcase Curren$y’s flow and lyrics. Get familiar with Dame Dash’s new Jay-Z. Jets fool!
Curren$y & Stalley collab with Creative Control to release yet another dope music video. This joint’s filmed in Jamaica. On the hook Curren$y says “Ain’t nuthin’ changed but the address”, the visuals contrast Uptown and Downtown Kingston. This track is off Ski Beatz’ 24 Hour Karate School mixtape slated for release on March 30th.
Curren$y’s Smokee Robinson is getting plenty of Internet-love, as we expected. One of the things we like to do on Hiptics.com is post our favorite songs from new mixtapes. “Bout It” is great for a couple reasons. First, Curren$y raps over an old Master P instrumental. You might remember that at one point in his career, Curren$y was signed to P’s No Limit Records. It’s a New Orleans thing. The second reason “Bout It” is dope enough for an individual post has to do with Spitta’s whole style/content/delivery. Take for example, the chorus.
“Is you bout it? Then say you bout it bout it
I roll one, you mash one if you bout it bout it
Trees in the blender, got some keef at the bottom
Woulda told ya but I got high and I forgot about it”
Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints for winning the Super Bowl last night. (In case you missed the game, the New Orleans Saints upset the Indianapolis Colts 31-17.) The night before the big game in Miami, New Orleans native Curren$y was flooding the south Florida scene with his music. Read the rest of this entry »
“The Ultimate” isn’t that great of a track, but we always appreciate super-collaborations. In the case of “Ultimate,” we get fresh verses from Cory Gunz, Curren$y, and Mickey Factz over a Precize instrumental. Can’t be that bad, right?
Nipsey Hussle, who was in town for XXL’s Freshman class cover shoot, linked up with Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa at a local recording studio. Sounds like the trio is cooking up something that will have the Internet goin’ nuts.
In Curren$y’s “Breakfast” music video, Spitta imagines waking up in paradise. Who couldn’t go for a sunny day this time of year? Read the rest of this entry »
Earlier we posted a snippet from a Jay-Z feature in Esquire that details President Obama asking Jay-Z about America. Later in the story, Dame Dash tells his side of the Roc-A-Fella break up. Curren$y is briefly mentioned as “one of Dash’s hot new things.” On a side note, it sounds as if the office described below is the set for Curren$y’s “Life Under The Scope” music video.
Inside a large and empty belly of a building in the TriBeCa neighborhood of New York, Damon Dash roosts and inflates. These are his new offices and he’s barely moved in, but his aspirations seem to have leased this space forever. There is something of an art gallery on the first floor and a control center of video and audio on the second floor, with projection screens projecting budding talent on the blank walls before you. Lap-topping on a beanbag chair in one of Dash’s nuclei of work spaces is Curren$y, one of Dash’s hot new things, his wrist moored by a five-hundred-pound Tiret watch, one of Dash’s hot new accessories. Dash brands, too, but more brazenly. [Read the full story...]
