Editor’s Note: If you buy a pair of headphones through one of the links provided below, a percentage of your purchase will be credited to Hiptics, which will ultimately make our new humongous server bill a lot more manageable! Oh, and I own a pair of these:
“People aren’t hearing all the music. Artists and producers work hard in the studio perfecting their sound. But people can’t really hear it with normal headphones. Most headphones can’t handle the bass, the detail, the dynamics. Bottom line, the music doesn’t move you. With Beats, people are going to hear what the artists hear, and listen to the music the way they should: the way I do.”- Dr. Dre (Learn more about Beats by Dre)
Hiptics Says: Dr. Dre makes the best beats and Monster Headphones make the best headphones. Combine the two forces and we getBeats By Dr. Dre. Trust me when I say that NO OTHER headphone on the market makes hip hop music sound this good. I have let a lot of people listen to hip hop music with my pair of Beats headphones. I have yet to have someone tell me that their headphones sound better than my Beats. Buy a pair of these for a great deal on Amazon, and prepare to listen to your favorite hip hop songs for the first time again.- Chris Franco
50 Cent earned his first Grammy Award last night (1/31/2010) for “Crack A Bottle,” which also features Eminem and Dr. Dre. The track appears on Eminem’s Relapse, which won the Grammy for Best Rap Album. Despite thirteen previous nominations, last night marked the first time 50 Cent won a Grammy.
This had to make news. Curtis Jackson has been nominated 13 times before this but never won. There is always a first time. His immediate boss Eminem won the Grammy for ‘Best Rap Album’ for Relapse. Full list can be found here. [HipHopNMore]
I own a pair of Beats by Dr. Dre. headphones and they are unbelievable. Dre’s headphones really enhance the whole hip hop listening experience with the bass, noise cancellation, and overall cool look. Glad to see that Dr. Dre is continuing to debut new styles of the headphones, and in this case, benefiting a really noble cause.
One thing the entire Hipset is looking forward to in 2010 is Dr. Dre’s Detox. I wonder what the first single will be? Dr. Dre’s last solo album featured “Still Dre” as a single, and that song is still relevant. No wonder Dre named his 1999 release 2001. The “Still Dre” music video, which is directed by the legendary Hype Williams, is below. Now, when you listen to Dr. Dre’s raps, pretend as if Jay-Z were saying his rhymes. Why? Because Jay-Z is credited for writing the song. Check one of our favorite online hip hop resources, Rapcredits.com, for proof.
Oh, and as for Dr. Dre’s Detox, we know a lot of our loyal readers do not think the album will ever see the light of day. However, Dr. Dre’s younger brother, Warren G, gave Hiptics.com the inside scoop about the album. It’s coming soon so be prepared!
Eminem and Dr. Dre’s latest collaboraton, “Hells Breaks Loose,” is classic Shady/Aftermath material. “Hell Breaks Loose” is slated to appear on Eminem’s Relapse: Refill, which will hit stores on December 21st.
They just don’t make music videos like this anymore. Eminem’s scenes are particularly hilarious. Do you remember seeing this music video for the first time? -Cfro
“I’m upstairs. I’m listening to my Will Smith CD…Detroit what!? Detroit what!?”
Warren G: Well I don’t have no word on it right now, but all I can say is it’s coming soon. It’s coming real soon. Be prepared to get a great record because it’s gon’ be a hot one…the records I’ve heard so far was nice. He got some tight shit…He got some shit, trust me.
Enjoy the clean version of 50 Cent’s “Dreaming.” “Dreaming” was made possible by the legendary DJ Kay Slay aka Drama King and should appear on his album More Than Just A DJ. On another note, I hope Dr. Dre produces a lot of tracks on 50 Cent’s upcoming album, Before I Self Destruct. Why? Because “Dreaming” and 50 Cent’s summer banger, “Okay You’re Right,” both produced by the Doctor, sound phenomenal.
Listen to the reference track Ludacris submitted to Dr. Dre in the Hiptics.com video player above.
“It was for Dre. I wrote it for Dre,” Luda tells Rap-Up.com of the leaked song “O.G.’s Theme,” which finds him rapping, “Ain’t no ni**a better than Doc Dre, I’m a 20-year veteran.”
I found a great article about one of the greatest hip hop sub-genres: G-Funk. It’s always Dre Day on Hiptics.
Geek obsession: G-funk
Why it’s daunting: In the ’90s, it seemed like anyone with a synthesizer, a few George Clinton albums, and some antisocial tendencies could make a beat and put out an album, but only Dr. Dre was cranking out masterpieces consistently. The Chronic created an entire industry of studio gangsters, so it can be intimidating separating a handful of essentials from a vast sea of interchangeable wannabes.
